Student Opportunities: Translating Identity Conference

The sixth annual Translating Identity Conference (TIC), will take place on November 8th, 2008 at the University of Vermont. The deadline for proposal submissions is June 1st, 2008.The TIC conference, is a student-run event (free and open to the public) that focuses on gender and gender identities. TIC hope to each out to the University of Vermont, the Burlington community, and the nation as a whole to educate us all further on transgender and gender non-conformant topics. Student Opportunities: Mosse Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in LGBT History

The George L. Mosse Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in LBGT history was created through funds left by George L. Mosse for the study of LGBT history at the UW-Madison. The Fellowship honors his generosity and seeks to fulfill his passionate commitment to graduate education, to scholarship, and to academic inclusion. Students taking advantage of the fellowship will also benefit from the considerable strengths in gender history and LGBT studies at UW-Madison. These include Wisconsin's Program in Gender and Women's History, ranked number one among women's history programs in 2005 by U.S. News and World Report, as well as the university's new LGBT Studies Program and its long-established Women's Studies Program. Students also enjoy access to the extensive community of gender scholars across the disciplines at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Mosse LGBT fellowship is administered through the History Department. To be eligible for the Fellowship, candidates must apply for the Graduate Program in History at UW-Madison, and should indicate their interest on their applications, which can be obtained here. or by contacting Jane Williams at: 1-608-263-1962. The Application Deadline is December 1 of each calendar year.


Student Opportunities: Diversity Job Fair

Adrants and Business Development Institute will be in Chicago during March 10-14.This national event will be taking place will hold an Advertising and Marketing Experienced Hire Diversity Recruiting Program, otherwise known as AdEx Chicago. We are currently in the process of signing up the nation's top agencies and marketers to participate in this private and confidential recruiting program. Although all are welcome to apply, our focus on diverse candidates includes minority backgrounds, women, and GLBT. For more information, visit BDI's web site.


Student Opportunities: Point Foundation Scholarship

Point Foundation (Point) is the nation's largest scholarship-granting Organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students of merit. Point provides financial support, leadership training, mentoring and hope to LGBT individuals who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Equality Ohio Education Fund seeks talented, hardworking individuals with a passion for community building. Gay Pride Month offers a once-a-year opportunity to directly connect with key constituent communities and thousands of supportive Ohioans. During the month of June 2008, Equality Ohio will be participating in no fewer than four Pride month festivals, parades, or celebrations. This internship involves statewide travel, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work well with staff and dozens of volunteers. Primary responsibilities include help coordinate multi-event scheduling and staffing of booths; help manage and motivate on-site volunteers; help "work the crowd" and promote Equality Ohio; manage distribution of marketing materials and promotional items; booth setup and breakdown; transport booth contents to and from location (some heavy lifting); help manage data entry volunteer nights during the first week of July 2008. This internship requires that you have a valid driver's license and a car.

Student Opportunities: NGLTF Summer Fellowship

The Task Force creates change by building LGBT political power from the ground up. This is not your average fellowship. The Fellowship is a social justice fellowship that's fast and furiously intense. You'll learn to organize to defeat anti-LGBT ballot measures, get real campaign experience, and recruit hundreds of volunteers to build large-scale grassroots campaigns that change voters' minds and hearts about the lives of LGBT people. Apply now for the 2008 Summer Organizing Fellowship at the National gay and Lesbian Task Force. This is a paid fellowship. The Fellowship will be from June 9-August 15, 2008. People of color and transgender people are highly encouraged to apply. Applications must be received by Sunday March 30, 2008. Decisions will be made and communicated by Monday April 28, 2008.

Student Opportunities: Stonewall Democrats Internship

The National Stonewall Democrats organization is seeking motivated individuals who possess a knowledge and enthusiasm for politics and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender movement. Candidates should possess solid writing skills, knowledge of basic computer applications (word processing and spreadsheet programs), be adept with use of social networking websites and programs and provide an enthusiasm for work. The internship program is designed to train individuals in the skills require for success within political organizing and political advocacy. Additionally, interns are provided with opportunities to attend Democratic and LGBT events and opportunities to interact with party and movement leaders.
