Call for Nominations:
LGBT Advocate Award
Deadline: February 15, 2008
The University of Tennessee's Commission for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) People requests nominations for the LGBT Advocate Award to be presented at the 2008 Chancellor's Honors Banquet. The LGBT Advocate Award recognizes leadership, integrity, and outstanding contributions in the promotion of an inclusive, safe, and respectful climate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at the University of Tennessee. The recipient demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of LGBT issues on campus and has created a tangible impact through dedication and support of the university's LGBT population. All UT Knoxville employees including administrators, faculty, exempt staff, and non-exempt staff are eligible for the award. To nominate a faculty or staff member for the award, please send a letter of nomination addressing the award criteria and describing the nominee's specific contributions along with a current vita or bio of the nominee to: Renee Smith, Chair, Commission for LGBT People Awards Committee, 209 Hodges Library. Nominations may also be faxed to 974-8245.
LGBT Student Leadership Award
Deadline: February 15, 2008
The University of Tennessee's Commission for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) People requests nominations for the LGBT Student Leadership Award to be presented at the 2008 Chancellor's Honors Banquet. The LGBT Student Leadership Award recognizes student leadership and outstanding contributions in educational, social, and/or political activism for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at the University of Tennessee. The recipient demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of LGBT issues on campus and has created a tangible impact through advocacy for the university's LGBT population. All graduate and undergraduate students at UT Knoxville are eligible for the award. To nominate a student for the award, please send a letter of nomination addressing the award criteria and describing the nominee's contributions along with a current bio of the nominee to: Renee Smith, Chair, Commission for LGBT People Awards Committee, 209 Hodges Library. Nominations may also be faxed to 974-8245. Self nominations are encouraged.
LGBT Ally Research Award
Deadline: February 15, 2008
The LGBT Ally Research Award recognizes outstanding research, publications, and/or scholarship that focuses on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender populations and/or advances knowledge of LGBT issues. All UT Knoxville employees and students are eligible for the award. To nominate a researcher for the award, please send a letter of nomination addressing the award criteria and describing the nominees research along with a current vita or bio of the nominee to: Renee Smith, Chair, Commission for LGBT People Awards Committee, 209 Hodges Library. Nominations may also be faxed to 974-8245. Self nominations are encouraged.
